As adidas continues to exert notable effort across its network of collaborators, it hasn’t lost focus on its solo endeavors. The adiZero Adios Pro, for example, launched at the end of June and to much fanfare from hardcore performance runners. The brand’s latest creation, the Ultra Boost DNA Prime, combines two of adidas’ modern-day “bread-and-butter”, and is a lifestyle-friendly take on marathon running shoe design.
Primeknit, which debuted on the adiZero Prime back in 2012, sits atop the Ultra Boost‘s most standard sole unit on The Three Stripes’ newest model; some of its yarn has been created alongside Parley for the Oceans from upcycled plastic found near remote islands, beaches, coastal communities, and shorelines. Both “Active Red” and “Core Black” launch colorways highlight the shoe’s breathability, with the latter resembling previous knit footwear from Y-3. Profile 3-Stripes deviate from their respective pairs’ titular hue and complement “2020” text on the tongue – a nod to the new silhouette’s eight-year-old muse. Underfoot, Boost cushioning sits in-between a plastic mold at the heel and “Core Black”, Continental™ Rubber tread.
While no stateside release details are yet known, the Ultra Boost DNA Prime is now available at adidas.com in the U.K. for the equivalent of $176 USD.
Elsewhere, the German sportswear giant and Kanye West are launching the Yeezy Zyon on July 18th.
