The Nike Air Max 95‘s 25th Anniversary roster has included several experimental takes, but none have given the silhouette’s iconic gradient overlays a shimmering, almost transparent finish. Until now.

A newly-emerged iteration of the Air Max model boasts a tonal “Smoke Grey” scheme across its profile overlays. While familiar to the anatomy-inspired design, the hue’s glistening arrangement delivers an experimental approach that plays with opacity and depth considering it’s accompanied by a square pattern. The Air Max 95‘s other signature details – lace loops, forefoot reinforcement, spine – indulge in a pitch-“Black” palette, but “Aurora Green”-colored branding on the tongue and heel interrupt the pair’s dark palette. Underfoot, Airbags follow suit in the eye-catching hue, adding much-needed flair to an otherwise-“Black” sole unit.

Elsewhere under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, a first look at the UNION Jordan 4 has emerged.
