Michael Le The design team at Nike SB have done Nyjah and his eponymous silhouette quite well, presenting the skateboarder’s signature in ways both versatile and retro-inspired. The latest for the Nyjah 2, which leans a bit away from the Spiridon it first used as reference, taps yet another mid-90s staple: the women’s Air Max 95 “Grape.”
An overt nod in its colorway, the pair adopts most of its inspiration’s signature details. Purple shades mark the swoosh along the profile in a glossy, near glitter’d finish, while the mesh above paints on five dark blue stripes that directly mimic the eye stays of the AM95. Elsewhere, grey neutrals accent below along the mudguard, speckled extremely subtly with black markings; the lighter neutral is then seen again along the top line, finished by purple branding and the usual SB insignia.
