In honor of their founding, Studio FY7 has crafted a total of four special launches, a celebration that culminates this week with the release of their highly limited New Balance 992. An homage to the creative agency’s founder, Younes Bendjima, the collaborative silhouette draws inspiration from both Algerian and French sources for each of its total 250 pairs.
Designed with a bit of help from creative consultant Sam Jarou, the pair leads first with its sand suede construction, a choice that directly references the dunes of Southern Algeria. Black mesh then contrasts underneath, creating many a circular cutaway that’s likened to the ancient architecture of Ghardaïa, a capital city that heavily influenced the works of the French-Swiss multi-hyphenate Le Corbusier. What’s more, the co-branded brown insole also nods to the appeal of North African aesthetics while simultaneously inciting the wearer to walk proud, history and heritage in tow.
Finished with reflective Ns and a bold “FY7” atop the tongue, the exclusive offering will soon be available this Saturday, October 24th, on studiofy7.com.
In other news, the BLENDS Vans Sk8-Hi Zip is returning this week.
