The well-respected adidas Consortium program has made a number of notable stops throughout 2020. And as the year nears its end, the collaborative platform has visited the United Kingdom’s HANON boutique for a ZX420 inspired by the folklore of the nearby North Sea.
For generations the seafaring communities in the North East of Scotland relied on rituals and traditions rooted in luck and superstition. To this end, HANON has applied a handful of silver details aligned with good fortune throughout the pair. The premium suede and mesh combination seen across the upper indulges in a cloud grey and light blue palette inspired by the North Sea, while the dark marine-colored midsole further nods to the body of water. Profile 3-Stripes boast a slightly-serrated finish; standard tongue labels feature a silver graphic; luck motifs are debossed onto the heel; and sockliners are monogrammed with co-branding. Together, every detail adds a thematic arrangement to an oft-overlooked trainer from 1988.
