Michael Le ASICS, aside from a few inline releases, has been relatively quiet since the start of the year. That is soon to change, though, as the brand is about to make a big collaborative comeback with South Korea’s Andersson Bell. The two, like ROKH executed quite a bit back, are bringing hiking influence to the GEL-1090, stringing paracord through three different colorways.
And though each pair is alluring in their own right, the collaboration’s art direction arguably steals the show. Either encased in amber or half-submerged in crystalline-filled enclosures, the footwear co-stars against a number of abstract photosets. This only serves the shoes themselves, as it brings attention to Andersson Bell’s cosmetic, utility-informed additions. Prepared in a few varieties, the paracord crosses from the heel over to the toe, looping through metallic anchors. Underneath, the colorways complement the aforementioned equipment, dressing in silver, brown, and blacked out finishes.
