Following a highly-lauded collaboration from September, LEGO and adidas announced a long-term partnership in late October. Since then, both institutions have produced a handful of footwear products, with the latest resulting in an UltraBOOST with toy block-compatibility.
Unlike a ZX 8000 capsule that dropped in January, the forthcoming BOOST-cushioned silhouette indulges in an understated color scheme. “Footwear White” takes over most of the shoe’s mesh and textile upper, as well as iconic midsole foam. Although partial construction on the tongue and heel maintain materials and design choices from the inaugural UltraBOOST sneaker, the toe box features raised detailing suggesting LEGO blocks can be added to them. Profile cages indulge in a clear arrangement, while 3-Stripes accents deliver room for the Danish company’s iconic blocks to animate their otherwise transparent makeup. A total of 144 2×2 LEGO plates are included in the block-reminiscent box, alongside additional laces and sock-liners.
