This Nike Waffle Trainer II Calls Back To The Origin Of The Swoosh Logo

This Nike Waffle Trainer II Calls Back To The Origin Of The Swoosh Logo

Throughout its 57-year history, NIKE, Inc. has produced revolutionary innovation within the sportswear space. Along the way, its marketing and branding efforts have also garnered notable, well-deserved attention as they’ve changed the way product is touted. For its latest Nike Waffle Trainer II, the North American company harkens back to the original swoosh logo.

Waffle-patterned outsoles are integral to the brand’s historical success, which is nodded to by the forthcoming pair. Unlike running sneakers from Nike’s earliest days, muted shades of off-white take over most of the next Waffle Trainer-variant. Exposed foam tongues and the aforementioned tooling work in-tandem with vintage-style branding on the tongue and heel to nod to decades past. Yet, they’re overshadowed by the lateral sides’ logos, which resemble the earliest iteration of the swoosh (designed by Carolyn Davidson in 1971). Text underneath the iconic symbol reads “First use June 18, 1971” and directly contrasts the updated version found on the medial profiles. Elsewhere, removable accessories on the tongue deliver a shimmering golden take on Davidson’s design.

An official Nike.com release date is unknown, but this Waffle Trainer II is likely to launch ahead of June 18th. In any case, enjoy images of the pair here below.
