Sneakersnstuff (SNS) is currently widely accredited with one of the best New Balance collaborations of 2021 with its orange and green New Balance 920. And while its next project has yet to see the same amount of praise as this predecessor, the New Balance R770‘s origin story alone deserves attention.
Based on the New Balance 770 that debuted in 1984, SNS’ forthcoming collaboration is produced in Flimby, Cumbria, U.K. out of three different New Balance 1500 pairs. Leftovers from the manufacturing process come together in a patchwork arrangement to produce one of the most unique lifestyle sneakers of the year. In addition to the tiger camouflage and tribal patterns printed throughout the shoe’s upper, the joint-effort features the breathable mesh and premium pigskin suede materials that made the 770 the premier running sneaker in the 1980s and that’s become synonymous of New Balance’s Made in England footwear. Despite its bold graphics, the NB R770 indulges in black, greyscale and brown swathes that deliver a balanced aesthetic. Furthermore, ENCAP-cushioning underfoot rounds out the wild arrangement with a tried-and-proven white and black color combination.
Enjoy official images of the partially-upcycled pair here below, and find the shoes launching via the SNS raffle system come April 14th.
