Michael Le A long-term relationship in no uncertain terms, 032c and adidas have spent quite a bit of time together with new and old silhouettes alike. And with their newest collaboration, the two are reimaging a relatively obscure archival icon.
Like their Spring/Summer ’21 collection — entitled “SYSTÈME DE LA MODE” — the collaboration comes from a place of experimentation. “We have already taken adidas into our studio and workshop to add layers of interpretation to its most classics shoes,” said designer Maria Koch. “…it as though we took them into a laboratory.”
At the heart of the capsule lies the GSG-9, an older model that happens to be one of the imprint’s favorites. Its appearance here is far from what it once was, featured with a new look and GSG TR namesake. Mid-cut and visually utilitarian, the pair adopts a number of trail-ready upgrades. 3M details are strewn about, drawstring closures provide both security and convenience, and neoprene fabrics ensure a degree of weather proofing. Elsewhere, 032c and Three Stripes branding complete the upper, whose palette comes in either a “Hi-Res Yellow” or a more unassuming “Stone Grey.”
Elsewhere, the duo are preparing well for the warm weather with the accompanying GSG Mule. Though it’s far simpler in construction, it boasts the same materials atop the same sole for a look part-military. Expect to see it in both “Core Black” as well as a tan-like “Savannah.”
Currently, both offerings will release via adidas.com and select retailers on April 22nd.
