Jasmine Tang For those who didn’t have luck on their side when trying to score a pair of Aimé Leon Dore‘s New Balance 550s last month, perhaps The Intelligent Choice’s decision to add some new colorways to its mainstay line of 550s will relieve the sting. Joining the recently-revealed Yellow and Burgundy pairs is a clean white and black arrangement that is also set to drop on May 7th.
As with the other two styles, this two-tone offering sees a white, smooth leather base that uses perforations on the midfoot panels. These panels are further animated by the black used to tint the panels’ edges. While both sides flaunt the signature “N” logo, only the lateral side adds “550” branding to the forefoot. Elsewhere, black is further applied to the leather overlay near the ankle, the tongue’s piping detail, and the tractioned, rubber outsole. To introduce a neutral, “in-between” shade, the vintage-inspired look is complete with a grey suede overlay that wraps around the toe.
