Jovani Hernandez Since their partnership’s first joint-effort in August 2020, Noah and adidas have made it clear that the fruits of their collaboration are intended to do good in the world. For their latest endeavor, both institutions have assisted each others’ sustainability initiatives, creating footwear and apparel partly crafted from plastics gathered from the oceans.
Akin to its two previous Three Stripes-backed capsules, Noah has visited two iconic silhouettes from the adidas Originals roster: the Rod Laver Super and Probound Low. At first glance, the collaborative takes on the respective tennis and basketball classics don’t deviate much from the shoes’ signature looks, and that was done purposely. Brendon Babenzien’s affinity for both sneakers was less concerned with reimagining them with new colorways and design cues and more occupied with updating the shoes’ builds to meet certain eco-friendly criteria. The New York-based brand’s namesake, however, appears on both pairs’ tongue label and sock-liner, while landing on the Probound Low’s most-left lateral mid-foot stripe. The Rod Laver indulges in a mismatched heel overlay and outsole arrangement, sporting green and “Collegiate Navy” accents rooted in tennis history. Lastly, both Originals are stamped with Noah’s shell logo, which nods to Babenzien’s Long Island roots.
