Part sneaker fanatics and part movie mavens, the team at Extra Butter tees off with adidas Originals and adidas Golf with this exceptional capsule in honor of the 25th anniversary of Happy Gilmore, arguably the magnum opus of Adam Sandler’s long-standing career in guiltily pleasurable humor. A collection told through three of the prominent characters of the timeless comedy, this collaborative effort honors Happy Gilmore, his coach Chubbs, and his nemesis Shooter McGavin and their distinct on-screen styles. Joining Extra Butter in their official lookbook is the man who eats pieces of shit for breakfast – actor Christopher McDonald who impeccably portrayed the pretentious villain getting in the way of Happy’s success.
Included in the collection are three pieces of footwear – each reflecting the particular roles of the characters. Adam Sandler’s Happy represents the Adilette Boost Slide since the hockey player turned golfer is all about leisure. Carl Weathers’ Chubbs Peterson, who coaches Happy, gets the ZG21 spiked golf shoe covered in crocodile skin for obvious reasons. Finally, McDonald’s Shooter gets the UltraBoost 1.0 in a gold upper to match the elusive championship jacket. His signature finger-pointing hand motion is pressed to forefoot, but it is prominently featured in the accompanying apparel that includes an adiCross Bomber Jacket.
In addition to the apparel, a set of golf accessories have been created in collaboration with Asher Golf, Seamus Golf, Vice Golf, and Phat Scooters.
Earlier this year, Adam Sandler and Christopher McDonald provided a viral moment on Instagram by commemorating the 25th anniversary of their movie in their own respective way. This Extra Butter follow-up only adds to the excitement surrounding this era-defining flick that continues to stay relevant for its endless pool of memorable scenes.
