The New Balance 57/40 hasn’t overtaken the spotlight from other mainstays from the Boston-based brand’s roster, but it’s quickly garnered support due to its heritage-inspired design. For its latest ensemble, the modernized 574 has indulged in a predominantly “Garnet” arrangement complemented by “Pink Glo” accents.
At a glance, the silhouette seems like a byproduct of the unshakable “chunky shoe” trend of the last few years, but closer inspection reveals design cues directly translated from the New Balance archive. High quality materials appear all throughout the upper, with breathable mesh being overlaid with a plethora of textiles and fabrics. All components – save for a few underlays and profile branding – partake in the aforementioned “Garnet” tone. Lining around the collar, mid-foot “N” logos and the ribbed stability clip at the heel interrupt in a rich green tone, while both the titular tone and “Pink Glo” at the profiles to revel in the spotlight.
