Over the last few months, a couple of Halloween-themed footwear from NIKE, Inc. has surfaced via unofficial images. Recently, a Nike Dunk Low ostensibly-commemorating the Day of the Dead has emerged.
Akin to 2020’s “Día de los Muertos” Nike Sportswear collection, the newly-surfaced pair indulges in a vibrant color palettes unquestionably inspired by the offerings and decorations prepped for the event widely observed in Mexico. From November 1st to 2nd, family and friends pray for, remember and celebrate loved ones who’ve died, oftentimes establishing “altars” with images of these people alongside some of their favorite foods and items. The upcoming Nike Dunk forgoes any use of flower or mask graphics in favor of a reptilian arrangement informed by the lizard commonly painted in eye-catching red, yellows and other tones for the holiday. The animal is stamped onto the lateral heel, while the surrounding green and greyscale panels feature a scale-like makeup. Profile swooshes and “NIKE”-branded heel overlays indulge in the impressive ornamentation of the aforementioned decorations prepped for the late fall event, as sock-liners don “SiEMPRE Familia” (Always Family) and skull detailing.
Enjoy images of the pair here below, and anticipate a Nike SNKRS launch as November approaches.
