Jovani Hernandez Before Jaden Smith received his own signature sneaker from New Balance, the modern-day philosopher was photographed countless times with a customized pair from the 115-year-old company. Ever the bold dresser, Smith’s latest New Balance Vision Racer taps into the statement-making of those one-of-a-kind sneakers via two groovy ensembles.
Indulging in either a “Cream” or “White” base, each iteration of the 23-year-old’s own NB proposition boasts a bevy of accompanying tones and details that make their 1970s-inspiration obvious. Vibrant blue, orange, yellow and other hues animate everything from profile “N” logos to the model’s mudguard; the “White” option features a colorful gradient across its chunky, segmented midsole. “VISION RACER” and “NEW BALANCE” text on the tongue pull tab and heel, respectively, forgo their standard font in favor of one transported from decades past. Lastly, the semi-translucent outsole also displays period-appropriate graphics, rounding out the duo’s “hippie-approved” aesthetic.
