The nuances of gaming are for the most part lost on big brands — that much is quite clear. But as Nike gears up for the LPL (League of Legends Pro League), they’re trying their best to cater to the crowd’s sensibilities. Here, the Air Force 1 Pixel “Have a Good Game” is a light introduction to their fanfare, its design a rather palatable mix of glow-in-the-dark and pixelated features that celebrate the industry from a far-off, bird’s-eye view.
Minute details aside, the colorway opts for a string of rather ordinary pastels, none of which specifically honor League of Legends or equally iconic IPs. Light, pale pinks cover the toe and mid-panel, while equally desaturated purples complement along the toe cap and heel. Then, a soft green builds out the eye stay, contrasting the brighter yellow hits that dress the tongue and heel tab adjacent. The latter fixture, for added pop, further brightens with a hot pink visor, its translucent film shrouding a Swoosh on one side and a headset-equipped smiley along the other. Moreover, another gaming-inspired logo marks the tongue, bearing a polygonal aesthetic that more or less mirrors the blocky dubrae and grid-patterned Swoosh that glow in the dark alongside the midsole’s “AIR” text.
