The Iconic Trueno AE86 Of Initial D Takes Center Stage On The Upcoming BAIT x adidas Nizza Hi

Initial D, one of the most important and most notable racing manga to date, is undoubtedly responsible for inspiring an entire generation of car enthusiasts. And among the series’ many fans, there’s a shared love for the Trueno AE86, the cult classic MC Takumi Fujiwara drives throughout the 18 year publication. Here, thanks to the effort of both BAIT and adidas, the car is coming to life atop the Nizza Hi.

A subtle but detail-accurate homage, the pair starts first underfoot. Along the tooling’s front and rear bumpers, a tire tread imprints in homage to the AE86’s wheels, the pattern meant to be worn down all the same. Then, atop the lateral walls, the “Fujiwara Tofu Shop” name dresses in emboldened text, complementing the Initial D logo that is found on the side opposite as well as above near the collar. The heel’s blacked out vulc tab, which references Japanese license plates, rounds out the exterior, while black and white panels from the manga superimpose atop the mostly hidden insoles.

Enjoy a closer look at the collaboration here. A raffle is currently live on BAITme.com, with select US chapters to drop pairs on July 30th.
