The NBA’s Diamond Anniversary Celebration Continues Strong With The Nike Air Force 1 “Lakers”

In honor of the NBA‘s 75th Anniversary — AKA their “Diamond Anniversary” — Nike has prepared numerous gifts, the first being a set of Dunk Lows. And as revealed today, the brand also has a special pair of Air Force 1s on the way, its colorway a direct homage to the Lakers.

Effectively a nod to the team’s past and present, the palette incorporates both bright blue and purple. While the former drives home references to the 40s and 50s, the latter celebrates today, using the shade’s deeper pigment atop the exterior face. But elsewhere, the original Lakers signature takes roots elsewhere, dressing much of the medial side as well as the eye stays, lining, and outsole. Finally, to round out a more general celebration of the NBA, pack-exclusive insignia outfits the tongue.
