Michael Le Following an initial announcement late last month, Salehe Bembury and New Balance are preparing for the debut of the 574 YURT. An effective and functional ode to the outdoors, the silhouette is due to land in two colorways — “Grey” and “Multi” — come October 22nd.
Palette aside, the model itself is a melting pot of influences. The original 574 lends its base, which is quickly tweaked and upgraded with elements from the Test Run 3.0, the 990v3, and the archived 755. What’s more, Bembury has added to the heel a high pitch whistle, which emphasizes the need for safety when braving nature. While distinct, the two debut appearances share an inspiration: the yurt, a round tent typically covered with skins or felt. The first option errs towards simplicity, its suede, mesh, and the like dressed primarily in grey. Opposite, the “Multi” is far more varied in aesthetic, its paneling a mix of dark navy, brown, and pops of orange.
For a closer look at the duo, see below. As previously mentioned, a release is due to hit select retailers and NewBalance.com on October 22nd.
