Since 2010, thisisneverthat, has been delivering products under a design aesthetic dubbed “New Vintage.” Recently, the Seoul-base brand has brought its vision to the Converse Chuck 70 and One Star for its first collaboration with the North American institution.
Dipped in rather uniform color palettes, the propositions in the upcoming capsule deliver black and off-white styles given an old-school aesthetic via the suede on which they appear. The hairy material isn’t new to Converse‘s two iconic silhouette’s, by thisisneverthat’s take draws inspiration from the 1990s, and serves as an attempt at bringing yesteryear to the year 2021. In addition to the simple, but thoughtful arrangement that takes over the upper, the South Korean label has printed text and numbers on the midsoles’ lateral sides, a nod to both internal production details and its own in-house collections. License plates don co-branding from the two new collaborators, while outsoles boast an eye-catching, disparate green makeup that makes a statement of its own.
Continue ahead for campaign imagery of the collection (which includes apparel), and anticipate a Converse.com launch on November 4th.
