Its Y2K-style aesthetic still making waves in the world of streetwear, Stray Rats has emerged once more in the realm of footwear with their next collaboration with New Balance. First stepping into the scene with a set of 990v3 projects from a few yew years ago, the Miami-born label offers up two Made In UK 991 options inspired by vintage robots and mech warriors, tying into the tech-performance introduced by the New Balance 991 model when it was first brought to market in 2001.
Each colorway sports a supple mix of suede and nubucks – one with black, grey, and purple palette and a second with brown, maroon, and neons. A forefoot logo hit sees the brand’s namesake embroidered in lower case with two back-slashes, while custom insoles and shoeboxes feature its famed mascot in 8-bit form.
This collaboration is confirmed to release on NewBalance.com and select retailers on December 17th for $250 each. See the official images ahead for more photos and check out the store list for the Rich Paul New Balance 550 set to drop on 12/10.
