Although the Air Jordan 1 has recently gotten GORE-TEX makeovers perfect for the elements, the silhouette is preparing itself for the summertime via eye-catching styles. Case in point?: An upcoming “Volt” colorway atop its Retro High OG trim.
First rumored in early October 2021, the pair has recently surfaced via in-hand imagery courtesy of Instagram user @ryivibes. As with an initial mock-up of the sneaker, color-blocking follows inaugural “Chicago” styling, as “White” bases set the stage for contrasting overlays around the toe, along the tongue and across the collar and heel. Instead of “University Red” flair, however, the aforementioned panels indulge in a vibrant “Volt” tone that shares history with the Nike Air Max lineup. Profile swooshes, “Wings” insignias and collar underlays keep things simple in “Black,” though labels on the top of the tongue opt for the Jordan 1‘s bold titular hue. Sole units underfoot abandon any summer-specific color palette in favor of the tried-and-proven “White/Black” solution, further allowing the upper’s mix of overlays to steal the spotlight and add yet another experimental tally to Michael Jordan’s signature sneaker series.
Enjoy an early look at the pair here below, and expect a Nike SNKRS launch in June.
