Jovani Hernandez While several important silhouettes under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella are celebrating milestone anniversaries throughout 2022, Nike Air Max‘s 35th birthday arguably takes precedence, as it’s left its mark across dozens of designs across the last five decades. As part of the celebration, the Swoosh has put together the “XXXV” Collection, which now includes an Air Max 97 covered in “Black” and “Sport Turquoise” tones.
Akin to a recently-surfaced Air Max 90, the upcoming sneakers boast a predominantly dark ensemble that allow for the titular contrasting tone to revel in the spotlight. Non-standard denim and other fabrics come together throughout the pair’s upper, delivering a textured ensemble to Christian Tresser’s 25-year-old creation. Middle vamp overlays, profile swooshes, “XXXV” figures on the lateral forefoot and collection-specific jewel logos on the top of the tongue opt for eye-catching “Sport Turquoise” flair. Lastly, the full-length Air Max unit underfoot brings some of the upper’s styling underfoot, rounding out the special outfit in honor of the technology’s 35th anniversary.
