Michael Le Denim is one of the most iconic fabrics of all-time, inarguably so. The humble five-pocket jean and trucker jacket are signature to Americana, a style that has gone on to inspire the likes of Visvim, Wacko Maria, and NIGO’s Human Made. And stateside, the material has never lost its allure, and even sneakers — such as this upcoming Nike Air Max 90 — have made use of it in very interesting ways.
Though sans Levi’s input, this Air Max 90 achieves a look relatively similar to the beloved 501 and adjacent styles. A lightwash denim is applied to the exterior almost comprehensively, dressing the mudguard, quarter, toe, tongue, and the like. The embroidered Swoosh and heel tab stand out in their bold red hue, ostensibly mirroring the iconic red tab signature to the aforementioned brand. As for the laces, lining, and midsole, all three are kept standard, only outfitted to complement the colorway’s more interesting parts.
