Over the course of the past few years, adidas has made large strides to practice total sustainability, incorporating recycled materials wherever possible. And while many of their initiatives have been self-driven, the brand has also teamed up with a number of partners, such as Parley and, more recently, Allbirds.
Together with the Three Stripes, Allbirds have created the FUTURECRAFT.FOOTPRINT, a silhouette that helps reduce your carbon footprint without compromising overall performance. Since the shoe’s original release a little under a year ago, the two have adjusted their approach to design as well as their methods of manufacturing, both of which have been key in creating the brand new 2.94 KG CO2E.
Proof that low-carbon runners can be delivered at scale — and below the 3 kg CO2e mark — the upcoming model is an evolution of what Allbirds and adidas have done thus far. More pairs are available than ever before, arriving in four options: “Core Black/Bliss,” “Cloud White/Carbon,” “Core Black/Acid Red,” and an Allbirds-exclusive colorway. Each has been colored without the use of dye, and built with bio-based EVA as well as 100% recycled polyester.
