Although overshadowed by other milestone anniversaries under the Swoosh-backed umbrella, the Nike Air Max 97‘s 25th birthday has presented handfuls of compelling proportions in the last four months.
Recently, the Christian Tresser-designed silhouette appeared in a muted color palette seemingly inspired by vintage Nike product. A mix of off-white mesh, canvas and suede make up the entirety of the pair’s upper, with the sneaker’s base layer donning the most breathable material of the bunch. Miniature swooshes on the lateral side introduce a light blue tone into the mix, a hue that also animates the top of the Air Max model and logo on the outsole. Inner lining deviates in a burnt orange tone that ostensibly references the orange swoosh branding on the spine’s pull tab. Underfoot, the midsole’s foam further opts for an “aged” look given its gradient yellow arrangement, with waffle-patterned tread featuring paint streaks resembling wear-and-tear. The Air Max 97‘s full-length Airbag rounds out the style in a “cloudy” finish.
Enjoy official images of the pair ahead, and anticipate a Nike SNKRS launch as summer gets going.
Elsewhere under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, the Air Jordan 11 Low “Pure Violet” is set to release on April 28th.
