Although the Nike Dunk continues being a hot commodity, the sneaker design is 37 years old. To celebrate the model’s current moment in the limelight, the Swoosh has prepped an “Arctic Orange” makeover of the high-top’s original 1985 trim.
Previously used by UNDERCOVER, the Dunk High ’85 silhouette pales in popularity when compared to the low-top version of the late Peter Moore’s decades old design. Yet, the true-to-the-original proposition delivers a touch of heritage and quality that now-standard pairs don’t, specifically in regards to collar cushioning and sole unit shape. Unlike the debut Nike Dunk, however, the newly-surfaced pair features fabric overlays across the forefoot, midfoot and heel, delivering summer-ready style. Furthermore, the non-leather material is clad in an eye-catching “Arctic Orange” that also lands on the outsole underfoot. Lastly, midsoles boast a slightly-yellow finish for an “aged” look that harkens back to the sneaker’s mid-80s launch.
No firm Nike SNKRS release details have been disclosed by the brand, but that’s likely to change in the coming weeks.
Elsewhere under the NIKE, Inc. umbrella, check out the Air Jordan 11 “Cherry” expected to drop on December 10th.
