Serena Williams has already gone down in history. And as she searches for her 24th Grand Slam title in what she’s expressed will be her last run of the US Open, the 40-year-old is poised to go out in style.
Recently, Williams and her Swoosh family unveiled the apparel and footwear to accompany the tennis athlete’s latest appearance in the US Open. Inspired by figure-skating competition garb, Williams’ skirt and bodice of choice dons an all-black color palette offset by diamond encrustation; the six-layer skirt – which references the Michigan-born icon’s six previous wins in Flushing, Queens, New York – plays a complimentary role to the bejeweled chest and back-supporting bodice, which mimics the night sky above the tournament’s Arthur Ashe Stadium. The footwear of choice, a player-exclusive NikeCourt Flare 2, favors an understated color palette, but also features diamond-encrusted swooshes and solid gold lace deubrés prepped in collaboration with Serena Williams Jewelry.
