Michael Le Having began their partnership in 2020, Patta and New Balance — though not quite strangers — have only worked on a few sneakers thus far. The catalog is gradually beginning to grow year-by-year, however; and for 2022, they’re bringing out the 990v3 “Olive,” which marks the two’s first time collaborating on a MADE in USA silhouette.
Further differentiating itself from its predecessors, the Patta x New Balance 990v3 “Olive” features a much wider size run, catering not only to adults but also kids and infants. The apparel, which includes jogging pants and graphic tees, are also made for the younger members of the family.
The design of the 990v3 itself draws inspiration from trees, effectively paying tribute to the label’s Surinamese roots. Staple materials like suede and mesh are used throughout the shoe’s construction, proffering shades of light and dark green, respectively. Said color is brightened to a neon-like finish across the adjacent leather trims, while the tongue, heel tab, and midsole opt for more neutral execution. Specifically, the latter three fixtures are done up predominantly in grey, with the bottom adding on series of dark blue speckles.
