Jovani Hernandez The New Balance 550 continues to form an important part of the company’s lineup of products as it’s recently appeared in a grey suede makeover.
Surely part of the New England institution’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection, the newly-surfaced pair forgoes the perforated leather that’s graced its Aimé Leon Dore collaborations, among other styles, for upper construction mostly made up of the aforementioned hairy material. Mesh maintains its role as the base layer’s substance, but the overlays throughout the New Balance sneaker’s top-half deviate in a build prepped for the colder season. Every component up-top opts for varying shades of grey and white, with the former tone claiming most real estate on the latest 550. Sole units underfoot, however, introduce a slightly-yellowed traction solution that injects an “aged” aesthetic into the 33-year-old silhouette.
