Derrick Rose isn’t the superstar he was a decade ago, but the guard continues to enjoy global fandom. Recently, his adidas D Rose 1.5 has returned in a vibrant mix of “Off White,” “Acid Red” and “Bright Cyan” colors.
Akin to Tracy McGrady’s signature sneaker line, Rose’s has undergone performance updates as part of the Three Stripes’ “Restomod” series (“restoration”/”modification” as seen in the car industry). The Sprintskin synthetic upper reprises its original role, but sole units underfoot don modern Lightstrike cushioning and Promotion traction for an improved experience for hoopers. Much of the sneaker’s upper layer indulges in the blandest of the aforementioned hues, with most of the heel, midsole and outsole opting for contrasting, Miami-friendly colors as equally eye-catching as Rose’s game when the silhouette first debuted in 2011.
