First Look At The Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe Reimagined”

The Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe Reimagined” could be one of Holiday 2024’s most anticipated Air Jordan sneaker releases. According to new some new details uncovered by @zsneakerheadz, the Black Toe Reimagined Air Jordan 1s call back to a specific moment from Jordan’s debut season in the NBA. After wearing the shoes during a game, Jordan gifted the shoes to a personal friend, signing “My Very Best – Michael Jordan” on the left medial collar, and “My Very Best – To Brother – Love Always, Michael Jordan #23” on the right. The upcoming Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe Reimagined” will feature this heartfelt messaging in Jordan’s handwriting; see the images via @xcsnkr below for a closer look.

Updated February 22nd, 2024: The Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe Reimagined” is now expected to release on October 18th, 2024. Confirmed by @zsneakerheadz, the shoes will feature the “Air Jordan” text on the ankle collar in place of the Wings. Full family sizes are to be expected.

Updated January 30th, 2024: Some new developments surrounding the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe Reimagined” have surfaced. According to Complex Sneakers, this upcoming Air Jordan 1 will feature “AIR JORDAN” lettering on the ankle collar of the shoes, similar to the pair seen in a 1984 photoshoot with Michael Jordan. The upper materials will remain unchanged, meaning there will be no “aged” effect as seen in the Lost And Found Jordan 1s.

Nearly a year after the Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe Reimagined” release was reported, we’re now learning via @zsneakerheadz/@sneakerfiles that this remixed OG is set to release in Holiday 2024. Firm details on the design and specifications of this next chapter have yet to be disclosed. It’s difficult to predict what direction Jordan Brand is taking with this release, although it’s no mystery that the sneaker community prefers the vintage “aged” aesthetic established by the Lost And Found Air Jordan 1.

Other iterations of the Air Jordan “Reimagined” series have featured a drastic change in materials. The most recent “Royal Reimagined” swapped the original leather for a soft and buttery suede — a move that hasn’t sat well with Jordan fanatics. Previous versions saw the “Bred” AJ1 transform via a full patent leather, while the upcoming Jordan 4 “Bred Reimagined” will feature a full leather upper.

For now, stay tuned for further details, but rest assured that an Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe Reimagined” is headed our way this Holiday 2024 season. The above photo of the original Black Toe 1s should be accepted as a mere place-holder and is in no way an indication of the final release.

Although Jordan Brand has been pumping energy into other silhouettes in Michael Jordan’s historic roster of signature sneakers, it can’t quit churning out Air Jordan 1 colorways. Reportedly high-profile collaborators like Travis Scott will move on from the 37-year-old design in 2023, but the NIKE, Inc. subsidiary won’t – at least not until it releases the model in a “Black Toe Reimagined” version.

While currently only a rumor from reliable sneaker leaker @jfgrails, it’d be naive to believe the Swoosh conglomerate isn’t trying to capitalize on the highly successful “Lost & Found” retro from mid-November; a similarly-“aged” Air Jordan 3 “White Cement” has already been confirmed as part of Jordan Brand’s Spring 2023 Retro Collection. A proper “Black Toe” reissue last took place in 2016, but handfuls of non-High iterations of number 23’s first signature basketball sneaker have saturated the market with a similar color-blocking since.

If rumors of an Air Jordan 1 “Black Toe Reimagined” are true, the pair is expected to boast the same “cracked” leather throughout the upper, with the most visible “wear” arriving at the collar. Midsoles will also likely don a slightly-yellowed finish to recreate a vintage aesthetic. It’s important to note that whatever ends up dropping (if anything at all) may follow a completely different concept given that the “Reimagined” series meant something different before the “Lost & Found” 1s. Nevertheless, a “Black Toe” retro will surely be warmly welcomed by the sneaker community-at-large.

No firm Nike SNKRS launch details have been disclosed by the Air Jordan team, but if the rumors are true, that’s likely to change as the new year’s holiday season inches closer.

The original story was updated to include a mock-up of the rumored retro’s side angle, courtesy of Instagram user @glitchedgarbage. This was based on early conjecture and is not an accurate depiction of the shoe. The shoes will NOT feature the Air Jordan “Wings” logo and it is not confirmed to feature the pre-aged look as depicted below.
