Nike SB‘s 20th anniversary will come to a close with the start of a new year, but it seems the skate-obsessed imprint will keep the milestone celebrations going well into 2023, revisiting some of the most iconic styles in its expansive roster.
The “Heineken” Dunk – a “Classic Green,” “Black,” “White,” and “Red”-clad pair from 2003 – has recently been rumored to return in a “2.0” iteration, as reported by reliable sneaker leaker @jfgrails on Instagram. While not an official collaboration, the near-20-year-old original pair of shoes unquestionably referenced the signature green cans used by Dutch beer company, with an embroidered, ruby-colored star at the lateral heel rounding out the two-tone look. It’s unlikely that the Swoosh will work with Heineken to produce a “Heineken 2.0” SB Dunk, instead opting to work on a sequel to the “Silver Box Era” release on its own, but LeBron James‘ “Fruity Pebbles” offerings serve as examples of Nike getting the legal side of things right for proper product executions.
No official details have been disclosed by either party involved, but that may change in the first-half of the new year. While you wait, enjoy a brief look at the original “Heineken” pair ahead (photography by Sotheby’s).
