Sneaker News The New Balance 580 is something of an unsung hero. And despite receiving a collaborative push from the likes of Stray Rats and Palace, the silhouette has yet to catch on with the footwear brand’s current audience. That could very well come to change as the year progresses, however, as the classic has lined up no shortage of attractive colorways for 2023.
Much like the 550 revealed earlier this month, this upcoming New Balance 580 seems to borrow design cues from Jordan Brand’s “Reimagined” series. From the outsole to the materials used, many of the shoe’s details have been aged up by a number of years, albeit much less than the aforementioned basketball oxford. The upper, for starters, features a subtle patina across every instance of leather, complementing the distressed finish of the sole underfoot. Adjacent, though, the mesh inserts, “N” logo, and branded emblems are not nearly as worn down.
This release is confirmed to drop in May 2023 on NewBalance.com and partnering retailers for $140.
