DTLR and New Balance are no strangers to one another.
Over the years, both institutions have teamed up on special projects that’ve brought communities together. For their latest linkup, the longtime partners have reworked the New Balance 2002R through the lens of Virginia. Teased on Instagram, the silhouette takes its color palette from the iconic “Virginia Is For Lovers” slogan. A predominantly white build is seemingly offset by black and red contrast. Sole units maintain their standard build, while uppers are a love letter to the “V” in “DMV.”
The third and final pair in DTLR’s celebration of the DMV area – which included the 990v4 “DMV” and the 992 “D.C.” – the NB 2002R pays homage to essential aspects of Virginia. Accenting colors across the shoe draw from everything from the state flag to the unending highway lines that run through the state. The “Virginia Is For Lovers” sign that welcomes residents and visitors alike into the state lends its bold black and red color scheme to the sneaker, rounding out the special collaboration.
The New Balance 2002R “Lovers Only” releases exclusively to DTLR stores and DTLR.com on May 26th. The pair drops for adults and kids.
