Michael Jordan’s Earliest Documented Game-Worn Sneakers Are Up For Auction

Michael Jordan’s Earliest Documented Game-Worn Sneakers Are Up For Auction

Before he would receive his own eponymous signature line with Nike, Michael Jordan donned many an equally iconic piece of footwear: the Air Ship, the Air Alpha Force, and even the Converse All-Star. And after four whole decades, the latter — which is the athlete’s earliest documented game-worn sneaker — will be going up for auction, conjuring up memories of what many consider to be Jordan’s first dance.

Easily among one of the most — if not the most — talented college basketball players at the time, Michael Jordan took the international stage at the 1983 Pan American games, where he would receive his first Team USA gold medal. And in the matches that would ultimately lead to his victory, Jordan donned the Converse All-Star currently up for auction today, putting up 17.3 points per game.

Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the Team USA men’s graduate assistant coach, the game-worn Converse All-Star boasts a white leather construction, with navy blue trims applied to the heel and across the side in the shape of the footwear brand’s signature Star Chevron logo.

The auction, which started at $10,000 USD, currently sits at $16,106. Bidding will continue until June 11th — if you’d like to throw your own hat into the ring, head over to GreyFlannelAuctions.com.
