Converse Adds A Chunky Lug Sole To The Chuck 70

Despite being the icon that it is, the Chuck 70 is not at all exempt from Converse’s experiments. But thankfully, the brand has kept it simple with this newly-revealed model, which stacks chunky lug soles just below the sneaker’s original tooling.

Available in both low-top and high-top trims, the Chuck 70 Canvas LTD is not entirely unfamiliar. The upper is near identical to the original, boasting a canvas construction, Converse-branded patch, and silver metallic hardware. And in addition to the lugged, platform sole — which is likely part-inspired by boots, oxfords, and similar footwear — the laces have been given a premium upgrade. Instead of the usual flat strings, leather ties up the shoe in a straight bar style commonly found on more formal offerings.
