The Nike SB Dunk Low Decon N7 Will Release Only Via SNKRS And Heard Museum

Nike N7 has been going on strong ever since 2009, awarding over $8 million in grants to more than 270 different communities and organizations. But money isn’t the only way the program has given back: sneakers, too, have played just as big a role over the course of the last 14 years.

2023 sees Nike N7 team up with none other than Nike SB and the Dunk Low Pro. Collaboratively designed with members of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and Ojibwe communities, the two upcoming colorways boast floral embroideries and traditional motifs, all of which are owed to the Great Lakes and the Woodlands regions.

“Seeing our art and legacy come to life and carry on in a new way is exciting,” says fashion designer Rebekah Jarvey (Ojibwe/Chippewa). “Our art has been translated through different mediums and passed down for generations through the matriarchy. Helping with this design and seeing it highlight our culture for a new generation is incredibly special.”

The two pairs continue to celebrate nature with their maple wood-inspired print, whose grains wrap the entirety of the outsole. In addition to nodding to the trees that run throughout the Great Lakes and Woodlands, this graphic simultaneously honors skate culture and the countless skateboards made from this very material.

“When ideating for this collection, I really wanted to create something that reflects the beauty of Native culture through the individualistic lens of skate,” says designer Michael French (Navajo/Dine). “From the embroidery and maple graphic to the deck you ride and the trees growing on Haudenosaunee and Ojibwe land, this Dunk doesn’t just ask to be skated in. It says, ‘Tell the story.'”

In addition to the SNKRS launch on June 15th, both colorways of the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro Decon N7 will be releasing FCFS this Saturday, June 17th, at Heard Museum in Phoenix, AZ. Hosted in collaboration with Cow Skateboards as well as several other partners, the event will feature a skateable mini ramp and props course, skate deck design workshop, Q&A session with Di’Orr Greenwood and Kandis Quam, and much more.
