Since Aimé Leon Dore helped re-launch the New Balance 650, the old school basketball silhouette has become an important part of the brand’s lifestyle roster.
Recently, Steven Smith’s design has emerged in a clean white and grey color scheme that harkens back to the 1980s. Furthermore, the high-top sneaker features an outdated sole unit that falls in-line with the upper and mesh construction up-top. Tongues on the two-tone offering indulge in a new (“old”) exposed foam build that matches other vintage basketball sneakers on the market. Additionally, New Balance abandons traditional branding on the tongue for a cleaner “NB” logo that modernizes the decades-old performance shoe.
Enjoy detailed photos of the pair ahead, and anticipate a stateside newbalance.com launch soon.
