Although Nike SB has penetrated the mainstream sneaker zeitgeist thanks to its reinterpretation of the iconic Dunk, the skate-obsessed cohort has been churning out compelling takes on the Blazer Mid for decades.
As summer gets underway, the Swoosh has reimagined the SB Blazer in a “deconstructed” arrangement complete with navy and black colors. A mix of durable, skate-ready materials share the upper, with most of the forefoot done in a pitch-dark tone, while the mid-foot-to-heel area is covered in dark blue. Paneling throughout the shoe deviates from its standard blueprint in favor of an experimental finish that falls in-line with past “do-it-yourself” styes from the brand. Branding on the tongue, sidewalls, and spine also partake in the experimental mix, expanding Nike SB’s affinity for rebelling against the norm. Lastly, the sole unit underfoot opts for a black finish that complements the upper well; herringbone traction boasts a speckled makeup that denotes its recycled nature.
