Every summer Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League pits the best high school basketball players in the nation against one another in Augusta, Georgia. As a must-see stop for college coaches each season, the steamy hot gyms simultaneously serve as a preview for the brand’s premier on-court toolings, such as the recently unveiled Nike Ja 1 “EYBL”.
While a first look in March revealed a mismatched purple and yellow combination, official imagery reveals that the latter has been ditched in favor of a clad “Melon Tint” hue consuming both the left and right foot’s uppers. The cantaloupe-reminiscent shade receives an immediate deployment of jet-black contrasts clarifying the EYBL insignia and acting as a base layer for the opposing purple and teal tongue logos. The seldom monochrome aesthetic further fills the collar lining and the speckled midsole which act as a springboard for the “Rush Fuchsia” Swooshes and marbled heel detailing, concluding the pair’s pastel-infused palette with the aforementioned teal tone returning to outfit the front half of the sole unit.
The Nike Ja 1 “EYBL” is expected to release in the coming months for a retail price of $120. In the meantime, enjoy a detailed look at the pair below.
