Whether in general release or collaborative fashion, the New Balance 650 remains anchored in the silhouette’s 1980s aesthetics. Perforated leather overlays and a streamlined composition have endeared the next generation to the original hoops tooling, much like this “Burgundy” coated effort.

Exploring its prototypical tri-colored palette, the high-top model cures a dominant majority of the upper real estate in crisp white shades. “Raincloud” grey hues compliment the colorless canvas along the tread and heel while jet-black contrasts line the trim of the bulbous mid-foot N logo and tongue tab, closing out the seldom yet effective monochrome treatment. Elsewhere, the 550s heightened counterpart elects for repeating swatches of the rich wine tint along the mesh collar, 650 branding and opposing ends of the outsole.
