Michael Le Update December 13, 2023: After the initial release at SoleFly in Miami, a Nike SNKRS release is scheduled for December 16, 2023.
According to the Miami-based label, the SoleFly x Air Jordan 8 is as much inspired by Cuba as it is Michael Jordan’s stint playing Minor League Baseball: A tile design popular in old homes in Cuba makes its way onto the retro’s wrapping paper and sockliners. Elsewhere, mesh inspired by grandmothers’ couches and cigar box-reminiscent packaging also form part of Hidalgo and Prieto’s latest linkup with Nike, Inc. SoleFly is set to release an Air Jordan 8 Low exclusively to Friends & Family. Both trims of the brand’s collaboration are covered in off white, sail tones as a nod to cleats worn on the baseball diamond. Additionally, the creatives referenced the Alacranes del Almendares’s team colors for the capsule, bringing old school Cuban baseball history to sneaker form.

ORIGINAL STORY September 20th, 2023:
Back in July, Carlos Prieto confirmed SoleFly‘s next joint effort with the Jumpman, revealing early samples of a collaborative Air Jordan 8. And after more than a couple months of radio silence, the retailer has finally unveiled the final design.
Teased with a little help from the Miami Marlins — for which the boutique crafted a special Air Jordan 23 back in 2016 — the SoleFly x Air Jordan 8 “Mi Casa Es Su Casa” is a sizable departure from the above-mentioned samples. A few details, however, are carried over to this brighter colorway, such as the gilded hardware as well as the red accents all throughout the shoe. The base, though, replaces the blacked-out, “Playoffs” reminiscent palette for one comprised mainly of white and off-white tones.
Enjoy a brief look at the SoleFly x Air Jordan 8 “Mi Casa Es Su Casa” via the imagery ahead (Via Complex Sneakers). Going off previous reports, it’s likely these will be available on December 2nd through the retailer directly and possibly Nike SNKRS.
