Jovani Hernandez Australia’s Above the Clouds and Japan’s ASICS haven’t first worked together in 2020. Before 2023 ends, the two burgeoning collaborators are back with a “Cream/Shamrock Green” GT-2160.
Similar to the partnership’s ASICS GEL-1090, the latest proposition is rooted in retro performance running designs from earlier decades. Breathable mesh and lightweight NEXKIN panels make up the sneaker’s base layer, paying homage to the GT-2000 series. Synthetic leather overlays throughout the toe box, profiles, and spine starkly contrast underlays’ of white and silver finishes with rich green flair. The stability-focused sole unit underfoot indulges in the remainder of the ASICS GT-2160‘s color scheme. Together, each aforementioned component nods to Japanese architecture and product design, blending old and new without sacrificing function.
