The Nike Air Max Plus has been celebrating its 25th anniversary in style.
In addition to collaborations with Patta and F.C. Barcelona, Sean McDowell’s iconic design has built a healthy roster of general releases. The latest take on the shoe once-exclusive to Foot Locker sees a “Summit White” and “Ashen Slate” color combination cover everything from the sneaker’s mesh base layer to the TPU overlays along the profiles. Since its debut, the Air Max Plus – which introduced Tuned Air technology to the world – has had a penchant for vibrant blue gradients.
Over the years, McDowell’s performance-runner-turned-street-staple has taken on countless finishes, but none seem to excite longtime and new fans alike like eye-catching styles donning rich color-changing looks. (The all-black pair, however, has become notoriously popular in places like the U.K. and Australia.) The “Ashen Slate”-accented pair is tamer than the typical Air Max Plus, but palm tree-inspired waves on the sidewalls and whale tail-shaped shanks underfoot indulge in the silhouette’s rich color history. Air Max units underfoot and Tuned Air bubbles at the rearfoot also enjoy the blue makeovers, allowing their surroundings to don a simple “Summit White” touch.
No firm nike.com launch date has been disclosed by the brand, but that’s likely to change soon. While you wait, enjoy official photos of the women’s Air Max Plus ahead. The shoe is priced at $175 USD.
In related sneaker news, the Air Jordan 11 “Gratitude” is set to release for the whole family in early December.
