The Air Jordan 1 Mid “Black Cement” Carries On Tradition

Brand Jordan continues to innovate on the performance-basketball front, but it never abandons its rich catalog of iconic designs. With fall here, the Air Jordan 1 Mid has appeared in a color scheme worthy of a “Black Cement” moniker.

While missing the elephant print that turned the Air Jordan 3 from 1988 an icon, the newly-surfaced sneaker’s “Black/Cement Grey/Fire Red/White” color scheme unquestionably nods to the past, especially when considering an Air Jordan 2 with the same look released just last month. Dark grey appears at the toe box, profile swooshes, and panels around the heel, contrasting the pitch-dark tone that covers components in-between. Chicago Bulls-friendly red animates the collar lining, Jumpman logo on the tongue label, and outsole, rounding out the Air Jordan 1‘s “Black Cement” ensemble.

The lifestyle take on Peter Moore’s design from 1985 also bears semblance to the Jordan 4 “Bred,” another popular sneaker from Michael Jordan’s signature sneaker line. The release is also clad in “Black/Cement Grey/Summit White/Fire Red,” a color combination last seen in 2019 for the silhouette’s 30th anniversary.

Enjoy official photos of the heritage-inspired retro ahead, and anticipate a nike.com launch before 2023 ends. The Jordan 1 “Black Cement” is priced at $125 USD.

In related sneaker news, the Cherry 12s are set to return for the whole family on October 28th.
