The Nike Recalls It’s Own Birth Year With The Dunk Low “Since ’72”

A hidden nod to some history.

The Nike Recalls It’s Own Birth Year With The Dunk Low “Since ’72”

Given how Nike’s most popular retro silhouettes today were born in the 1980s, many fans of Nike don’t know much about the brand prior to that decade. This upcoming Dunk Low release will do its best to supply a little knowledge of history as it nods to the Swoosh’s origin year of 1972.

Nike gathers a natural-toned mix of shades in Sail, Pacific Moss, Cream, and Limestone, creating a solid new colorway for Dunk Low fans. That added bump of appeal is that unique graphics that appear on the insole, which exist to establish the first year of the Nike business, which came in 1972. Prior to changing it’s name to what we know it as today, Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman’s brand was known as Blue Ribbon Sports, which is why you might see that label or its shortened “BRS” in some vintage-themed footwear releases.

If you’ve got a weak spot for these types of sneakers with some historical context, look no further; the Dunk Low “Since ’72” is set to drop this Spring/Summer season for $115.
