As we near the true kickoff of this year’s Air Max Day, the steady stream of looks for the all-new, spotlighted Nike Air Max Dn model rolls on. With their official in-house debut just a couple weeks away, the “Royal/Blue Platinum” Nike Dn provides a window into some more accessible editions of the tentpole kicks.
This latest edition meets in the middle between a few previously revealed editions. On one hand, the bright, monochromatic looks like “White/Silver” and “Sail” have an influence, and on the other, the second-to-most-recent all “Royal” versions showcase how the Dn has worn the titular shade in the past. A slight splash of red in the soles lends a bit of patriotic appeal, making these an easy summer time proposition.
All that said, this white and blue combination is one that should strike familiar for Nike fans as a whole. The stippled blue hits that dot the all-white mesh upper create an almost gradient-like effect, gradually working from pure “Platinum” to straight “Royal” on the midsole.
Similarly, fans of the Air Max line more granularly should recognize this arrangement. The “Royal Blue” Air Max 1, an iconic shoe getting a re-release this year, serves as an archival influence on this shoe as well as some brand synergy given the presumptive proximity in their two release dates.
No release date has been set for the Nike Air Max Dn “Platinum/Royal” just yet, but it’s safe to assume they’ll either arrive on Air Max Day itself or sometime thereafter. Expect a $160 retail price when they do come about.
Looking ahead on the Swoosh’s schedule, the Nike Air Max 1 “Jackie Robinson” tee off April 15th.
