Ready to go with and without the covers.

Keep Your Legs Dry With This Nike Air Max Scorpion With Detachable Shrouds

Flyknit sneakers may not be an optimal choice for inclement weather, but Nike is encouraging you to wear your Air Max Scorpion on rainy days thanks to this added accessory.

This Air Max Scorpion, offered in a sleek black, metallic silver, and anthracite colorway, features included gaiters that are completely detachable, allowing you the wear with and without the leg covers. Fixed at the bottom of the pant leg, which closes via buttons, are straps that are designed to run through the gap at the midfoot where the Flyknit upper meets the Air Max unit. This easy on and off makes for versatility when the forecast is murky (what exactly does 40% chance of rain mean?), because you can simply store the lightweight gaiters in your pocket or your backpack.

Nike dropped a similar version just over a year ago in a khaki colored mix, but this all-black take exacts that tech-wear aesthetic that was dominant in footwear and fashion for the better part of the mid-2010s.

Currently, these are available on Nike’s official e-shopping channels in Asia, and a US release seems doubtful given that the first pair didn’t make it stateside. Even with the add-ons and the metallic Swoosh, these still run the standard $250.

In other Air Max news, Flight Club will be lone destination for the super-limited Air Max 1 “Oregon Ducks” on March 30th.
